Fucked Up are a hardcore punk band with a twist from Toronto, Canada. Their second album "The Chemistry Of Modern Life" came out last year and has guest vocals from acts like vivian girls and dallas green. The album, which is named after a book that told people how to take mushroooms and acid, is pretty experimental but most fucking definately worth a listen.
Track Listing: 1. Son the Father (ft Lullaby Akresta) 2. Magic Word 3. Golden Seal 4. Days Of Last 5. Crooked Head 6. No Epiphany (ft Vivian Girls) 7. Black Albino Bones (ft Dallas Green) 8. Royal Swan (ft Katie Stelmanis) 9. Twice Born (ft Sebastian Grainger) 10. Looking For God 11. The Chemistry Of Modern Life
And the original lead guitarist was called Bitchass McGee... fuck yeah

Ohana is an Australian DIY minimalist/post-hardcore/post-rock band who recently released their highly anticipated second album "Dead Beat". As of December 2008 they are on indefinite hiatus.
1. One Of Four 2. When Things Come Alive 3. End Fabric Indefinite 4. Bad Credit/Good posture 5. Birth Of The Clinic 6. They Scoundrels 7. Foreign Profession 8. Our Distant Foundations
i love all of the songs except for foreign profession
Grouper is musician liz harris and her guitar with a buttload of reverb, delay and a bit of gain making some awesome ambient/ noise music.
my latest obsession, dragging a dead deer up a hill is a collection of droney and repetitive, in and out of focus tracks that all somehow manage to flow together and is so easy to listen to.
give this album a listen, go to sleep to it maybe, it's a whole lot of ambient goodness.
favourite trax? all of them!
track listing:
disengaged heavy water// I'd rather be sleeping stuck when we fall travelling through a sea fishing bird (empty gutted in the evening breeze) irresistable i'm dragging a dead deer up a hill cover over wind and snow tidal wave we've all gone to sleep
The Hold Steady are a "riff-heavy classic rock" band from Brooklyn, America that have released 4 records so far. Their album "Boys And Girls In America" was released in 2006 and after having had it on my itunes its been on constant rotation. The band which takes inspiration from post-punk and "classic rock" (fuck i hate that term) based the album on a book by novelist Jack Kerouac. The album has been reviewed well from everywhere. Give it a listen, every track is fucking amazing.
Track Listing:
1. Stuck Between Stations 2. Chips Ahoy! 3. Hot Soft Light 4. Same Kooks 5. First Night 6. Party Pit 7. You Can Make Him Like You 8. Massive Nights 9. Citrus 10. Chillout Tent 11. Southtown Girls
Every Track Is Good. "Stuck Between Stations" and "Chillout Tent" Exceptional.
people have tried to fuse rap and hardcore before, but it's always been fucking shit, like limp bizkit.
Deez Nuts, however party really fucking hard.
the album "Stay True" (which me, Jordan and Danny all love) features guest appearances from Jamie of The Red Shore, and Ahren from Amity.
they are a nice break from the usually way too serious attitudes that most of today's hardcore bands have, cause they talk about partying hard, hustlin' and getting paid and/or laid... which is what i relate to best. (lol) my favourites are stay true and like there's not tommorow... and I hustle everyday but i hate their beastie boys cover.............
Stay True
1. Stay True 2. Damn Right 3. Love Hate 4. Fuck What You Think 5. I Hustle Everyday 6. It's Like That And That's The Way It Is 7. Tonight We're Gonna Party 8. Like There's No Tomorrow 9. Your Mother Should've Swallowed You 10. Move Back 11. Never Grow Up 12. Fuck The World) 13. Fight For Your Right
deerhunter are like this 4 peice band from america that play a wide range of genre's that include ambient, shoegaze, noise rock and even post-punk
weird era cont was released as a bonus disc on the bands album "microcastle"
this album is differant because each song is written and perfomed by just one member of the band
i got to see deerhunter live about 2 weeks ago when they played in brisbane, and it was just so good
my favorite TWO songs off this album would be "backspace century" which im pretty sure bradford cox (atlas sound) wrote, and "focus group" which i think lockett pundt (lotus plaza) wrote, but i'm not too sure
New album by rad 1980-90s alternative darlings Dinosaur Jr.
Written and recorded in J. Mascis's bedroom the album is only their second album in over 10 years and moves back to their early sound of the 90s but still retains Mascis's amazing guitar and "slacker drawl" singing and also Lou Barlow's pounding bass lines.
Official release date is the 23rd of June but thanks to the magic of the internet it's available at the link below for free now.
Check it out for the amazing guitar and a nice reminder 90's alternative.

wavves is nathan williams, a beach punk/noise rock musician from california although personally he is a loser, he makes some REALLY cool music apparently he edits his music in garage band to give it that fuzzy/home recording sound lol
california goths appears on both albums, but like the songs are completly differant and both brilliant the intro songs on both albums ('intro goth' & 'rainbow everywhere') are pretty cool and so is 'wavves' and 'vermin' on 'wavves' and 'to the dregs', 'so bored' and 'gun in the sun' on 'wavvves'
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead are an art-rock band from Austin, Texas. I Found their latest offering "The Century Of Self" after being told it sounded like Japandroids... which it does slightly.
They are a 6 piece with each member playing multiple instruments at different intervals throughout the album. It's been on regular rotation on my Itunes for about 2 days now and it blows my mind. The walls of sound are immense and the fact they have so many different tracks going on at the same time just makes it better.
Give it a listen if you liked Japandroids :)
Another cool thing, the album artwork is done completely in blue pen... check it...
Track Listing:
1. Giants Causeway 2. Far Pavillions 3. Isis Unveiled 4. Halcyon Days 5. Bells Of Creation 6. Fields Of Coal 7. Inland Sea 8. Luna Park 9. Pictures Of An Only Child 10. Insatiable One 11. Ascending 12. An August Theme 13. Insatiable Two
Japandroids or sometimes JPNDRDS are a garage/noise pop band who recently released their first album "Post-Nothing".
Wanky name for an album but fuck it's awesome. They follow the format of many other noise pop groups, guitar and drums, but manage to produce some great walls of sound.
Simple vocal melodies and pumping guitar sounds propel this album from the norm to the best thing I've heard in ages.
Favourite track "Young Hearts Spark Fire" glides through 5+ minutes and "Wet Hair" and "Sovereignty" make for great listening also.
Track Listing:
1. The Boys Are Leaving Town 2. Young Hearts Spark Fire 3. Wet Hair 4. Rockers East Vancouver 5. Heart Sweats 6. Crazy/Forever 7. Soveriegnty 8. I Quit Girls
For those who like No Age and Wavves, Wives should be just for you (even though they don't sound at all like either of them.) it was one of the dudes from no age and the dude from wavves and this band teared up pretty hard.
they have an oldschool and upbeat punk & hardcore sound with a noise rock feel, its pretty good.
to be honest i only downloaded this album like 3 hours ago but have given it a pretty good listen
the best parts are at the end where the singer is like "get a new fucking job" and "yeah i fucked up once..."
favourite song: babies
1. 4X4 2. Babies 3. Mountainous 4. We Came Out Like Tigers 5. All Dads Alike 6. Boys Club 7. I've Got This One Partner 8. Wasted Again, Again 9. Squeeze Your Eyes So Tight 10. Mother Russia 11. Big Idea 12. Lunch Money 13. We'd Never Assume That 14. Brickface
liars are this three peice band from america (but the lead singer is from australia, nice)
you can tell that in liars latest (and greatest) album "drums not dead" the drums are defiantly not dead
while two of the three members are on drum kits (and one of the two playing guitar in a couple of songs) the third member is creating very unique guitar distortion souds as well as singing with a distinctive voice while changing the speed and pitch of his voice throughout the album constantly.
seriously, this album has been my favourite for a while now and it never gets old
my favourite song off the album? i actually cant decide, there all too good
"kind of like my bloody valentine but not really" Slowdive were a killer bands that formed in the late 80's, nearly becoming big but then breaking up a year after their best album, Souvlaki was released. it's got everything you would expect from a shoegaze band, and it's reeeally fucking slow-paced. definately worth a listen or two... Also, Eno produced that shit.
my favourite tracks are Alison, Machine Gun and When the Sun Hits
1. Alison 2. Machine Gun 3. 40 Days 4. Sing 5. Here She Comes 6. Souvlaki Space Station 7. When the Sun Hits 8. Altogether Listen 9. Melon Yellow 10. Dagger 11. Some Velvet Morning 12. Good Day Sunshine 13. Missing You 14. Country Rain
lotus plaza is the solo work of deerhunter’s lockett pundt his debut album the floodlight collective has really impressed a lot of people and challenged the music ability of fellow band member bradford cox (lead vocalisit of deerhunter and also has his own solo project out called atlas sound). the album really focuses on guitar melodys with soothing plaintive vocals
my favorite song off the album is defiantly "whiteout", and to find out he sings on the track "agoraphobia" from deerhunter's latest album "microcastle "just made me like him even more
Track Listing
1. Red Oak Way 2. Quicksand 3. These Years 4. Different Mirrors 5. Whiteout 6. What Grows? 7. Sunday Night 8. Antoine 9. The Floodlight Collective 10. A Threaded Needle

Explosions In The Sky are a sweet band from texas.
The best way to describe their sound would be 'instrumental/ambient/progressive post rock'... but then you would just sound like a wanker...
It's pretty easy on the ears and makes for some good sleeping or zoning-out music.
There is lot's of single note guitar action and tremolo picking and a whole lot of delay. also i'm pretty sure sometimes they use 3 guitars...
they reap the puss live.
1. The Birth And Death Of The Day 2. Welcome, Ghosts 3. It's Natural To Be Afraid 4. What Do You Go Home To? 5. Catastrophe And The Cure 6. So Long, Lonesome
